Send a demand letter by registered mail

The letter is written; now it has to be sent in a way that lets you prove, later, that the other party received it. That's what registered mail is for — and we can take care of it without you going to the post office.

Why registered mail

A demand letter formally warns someone: pay an amount, fix something, honour a contract, within a set time. If the dispute goes further, you need to show the warning was sent, and received.

Registered mail leaves that trail: the envelope is recorded at the counter, tracked to delivery, and handed over against a signature. If the recipient says they never got anything, the tracking answers for you.

What we do, and what we don't

We print the document you upload and hand it in at the Canada Post counter by registered mail. The tracking number is emailed to you and we keep the mailing receipt.

We don't write the demand letter and we don't give legal advice. For the content, the deadline to give or the right way to send it in your situation, check a reliable source — your province's public legal information service — or a lawyer.

How it works

  1. Prepare your letterAs a PDF or Word file, dated and signed. Keep a copy for yourself.
  2. Upload it and choose “Registered”Enter the recipient's exact address and your name as the sender.
  3. We print it and hand it in at the counterWithin 24 business hours. Your name appears on the envelope as the return address, “c/o InkShip”.
  4. You get the trackingThe tracking number arrives by email. Online tracking shows acceptance, then the recipient's signature.

Before you send

Double-check the recipient's name and address: a wrong address sends the envelope back. A scanned signature will appear printed on the letter; if you're unsure what your process accepts, ask before ordering.

If the recipient doesn't pick the envelope up at the post office, the tracking will show it. What that means for your case depends on your situation: that's a question for a professional.
